It began as an idea. A Halloween costume idea.
A vampire social outcast. One with buck teeth instead of fangs. Makes it a little difficult to bite people on the neck. A completely ridiculous idea, which is probably why Jon and I thought it was perfect. It also perfectly went over everyone’s head at the Halloween party Jon debuted the costume at. Oh well, we were sold.
That was the fall of 1996. Over the course of the past 15 years, BTV has evolved from that idea – a socially inept vampire outcast with buck teeth, to a movie idea into something of a moniker for our creative ambitions. I started sneaking ‘BTV Productions’ into my designs for Boston University. It enjoyed a bit of an underground life, even if it was really only in the collective consciousness of two people.
Feeling energized by a bit of a creative spike recently, Jon and I decided to take BTV Productions social. Well on Facebook, anyway. We crafted a logo, created a FB page and suddenly BTV Productions started taking on a bit more of a tangible feel. Again, probably just to the two of us.
But to have a bit of space to house whatever ripe or meager fruits our creative minds could conjure up was important to us. We’d love it to act as a bit of creative incubator for not just our ideas, but our friends as well. Or maybe it’s just a place to talk movies, music or any other inane idea that pops up. We have no illusions it will grow into any of these things. This IS Facebook after all. (see shameless plug: The Facebook Paradox). But it’s something. It’s a start.
And even buck-toothed vampires deserve a place in this world.
